Purrkur Pillnikk (could be translated as ‘Sleepy Chess-Player’) was formed on 8. March 1981. This EP was recorded less than a month after the group was formed (1. April), and released May 1981. It is the first release on the famous Icelandic Gramm label. The band existed for 18 months (1981-1982), and was very productive: 2 LPs were released, 1 live album and 2 EPs.

Singer Einar Örn’s howling and off-key singing and his lyrics that most often described very day-to-day things but with a lot of interwoven angst.
