Holiday in Cambodia, Island in the sun, Holidays in the sun, The boys of summer, Endless vacation… Plenty of songs about holidays and vacation.

We were digging for some tunes about holidays and vacation in Icelandic music history.

Here’s our selection:

Ruddinn released the album “I need a vacation” in 2011.

Most people take the “Flybus” to Iceland’s capital. But by far Reykjavik!’s song from the EP “Dirty weekend with Reykjavik!” (2007) is a more pleasant ride.

Svavar Knútur likes to travel a lot: “Wanderlust”

“Holidays in Europe (The naughty nought)” by Icelandic super group KUKL featuring The Sugarcubes Einar Örn Benediktsson, Björk and Sigtryggur Baldursson (early Sugarcubes member Einar Melax as well btw)

“Gremlin Holiday” by Kira Kira from the album“Our map to the monster Olympics” (2008)

“Par Avion” and “Tropical” by FM Belfast from “How to make friends” (World Champion Records, 2008)

“Holiday” by FM Belfast from “Brighter Days” ‘(2014)

“Ég fer í fríið” by Sumargleðin

Styrmir Steinn Sverrisson (ft. Matti Matt) “Komdu með mér í frí”

Helgi Björns“Ég fer á Land Rover frá Mývatni á Kópasker”

“Á Spáni”: Stuðmenn’s song from the album “Sumar á Sýrlandi” (1975)
