In Isafjordur, the capital of the West Fjords.
The 2014 concert takes place on the 18th and 19th of april and will start just before dinner time on friday and will continue around 16:00 the next day. (By the way there is a tradition to have a little foreplay on the thursday before the festival, with a few well selected bands, ultimus kozyness!)
How do I get to Ísafjörður?
To get there the easiest way is to fly in from Reykjavík Domestic Airport. Twice a day Air Iceland flies from Reykjavík to Ísafjordur and it takes just 40 minutes. For easy booking check the website for prices.
The drive is about 450km and it’s best to drive from Reykjavik and turn up to Brattabrekka and take the mountain road Þröskuldar. Then you follow road number 61 to Hólmavík and then in and out of all the fjords to Ísafjörður. In Iceland, the weather can change pretty quickly so be prepared. If weather conditions are unclear you should bring a phone, a showel, a good overcoat and it is also wise to let somebody know about your travel plans.
- Rent a car, Avis has a very good offer for Aldrei fór ég suður. You can also fly to Ísafjörður and rent a car at the airport.
- Here you can see how to get there on Google maps.
- Samferda.com to look for a ride to Ísafjörður (Carpooling)
- rideshare.is another site to hook a ride too the Westfjords.
Is there something else going on in Ísafjörður during this weekend?
Oh yes! The Ísafjörður Ski Week has been held during Easter for over 70 years.
During the week there are all kinds of outdoor events in the day and parties during the night.
