Melting (hot) pot

VAR was formed in April 2013 by Júlíus Óttar Björgvinsson and Myrra Rós Þrastardóttir. The EP “VAR” was made by this duo. Today VAR has become a quintet. VAR brings strings, synths, vocals and guitars together to create dreamy, ethereal and tenuous songs. Thus, strolling on the crossroad between Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Sigur Rós and Ampop. Shoegaze, dreampop, indie synthpop and post-rock in a big ‘melting (hot) pot’. “Þokuljós”, meaning fog lights, is a short and thin aired introduction. The album’s eye-opener is “Loka Aftur Augunum”: Biggi Hilmars meets Jónsi. The 3rd song is in English: “Silence Is Recovered”. Karl Petska plays violin in “Hve ótt ég ber á” and “Óyndi”. Finally, “Undir Súð”, brings you to the point omega, the Valhalla.
The 5-piece band, Júlíus Óttar, Myrra Rós, Egill Björgvinsson, Arnór Jónasson and Andri Freyr Þorgeirsson, is fully occupied in recording a full album at home. This EP is a promising and solid foundation for the upcoming picturesque penthouse with already a hot pot on the spot.
