De La Solla

For the last couple of years Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir has been working as a musician in the synth punk poet project Kælan Mikla and running the alternative record label Hið myrka man. When moving to Berlin recently, she started to work on her solo project entitled ‘Sólveig Matthildur’.
On her 7-track début album, “Unexplained miseries & the acceptance of sorrow”, Sólveig Matthildur works primarily with synths, strings and her vocal chords, all meandering around 20 Hz waves.

The moody and mysterious patterns weaved by Solla, brings to mind the best of Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil and Enya. The result is a dark grey-on-black lopapeysa, to keep you warm and dry while being happy when it rains… in Australia, England or Ireland.
