The Pom Pom Club

Singer Rakel Mjöll is studying at the Art University of Brighton. Together with her British friends from Uni, Bella and Alice, she formed the trio Dream Wife. Rakel used to be the singer in the duo with Sölvi Blöndal (of Quarashi fame) called Halleluwah. With some help of Þorbjörn Kolbrúnarson, “The Pom Pom EP” was recorded.

The 3 girls create surfy, grungy tunes, as they describe their style. Rakel Mjöll’s vocals reminds me of 2 eighties blondies, namely Wendy ‘Baby I don’t care’ James (Transvision Vamp) and Patsy ‘I’m not scared’ Kensit (Eight Wonder). The girl power band’s music is based on catchy riffs. Lolita Rakel’s warm, sultry voice blends well with the backing vocals.

A very promising girlie indiepop EP made by 3 coeds.
