Bristolian Brit Zoon van snooK (ZvS) is an oddtronica/folktronica master in giving found sound and field recordings a second life with the use of various acoustic instruments. His 2nd full length album, “The bridge between life and death”, is the rebirth of a strange, and small island. For this release, under construction since the end of 2009, he made sound recordings in his beloved Iceland, in the capital area, as well as in the countryside. The title derived its name from a bridge in the suburb town of RVK named Kópavagur, that the locals call so, ‘cause the nursing home is on one side, and the cemetery on the other. Fortunately, thanks to Icelandic collaborating artists as amiina (string quartet of Sigur Rós fame), Sindri (Sin Fang/Seabear fame), Benedikt H. Hermannsson (aka Benni Hemm Hemm), and múm, things come to life. 2nd single “The Gaits’ features Sin Fang aka Sindri Már Sigfússon. Seabear’s Halldór “Klúbba-Dóri” Ragnarsson (of kimono fame) is responsable for the cover artwork. Overall, this is a recommended, joyfull album with cute and catching tunes.
