“Eitt” (One), Jón Ólafsson & Futuregrapher’s first collaboration, is an avant-garde fusion of the piano melodies of Jón Ólafsson and the atmospheric ambient of Árni Grétar aka Futuregrapher. Jón Ólafsson (of Nýdönsk fame), a talented songwriter and keyboard player, has worked with artists like John Grant, Emiliana Torrini, Megas, Björk, Ragnheiður Gröndal, Magnús & Jóhann and Bubbi Morthens. He has received an Icelandic Music Award for the best keyboard player twice. Árni Grétar, 20 years younger than Jón Ólafsson, runs the record label Möller Records with fellow musicians Steve Sampling and Bistro Boy. Futuregrapher has made numerous remixes f.ex. for Ghostigital, Samaris and Ruxpin.
Jón Ólafsson and Árni Grétar’s joint venture provides piano driven music with a touch of synthesizers and small sound effects. “Eitt” contains 8 minimal meandering and melancholic melodies longer than 6 minutes. The music is as dreamy as it is contemplative, based on a transparent, tranquilizing texture. The H2O artwork and photographs were made by Sig Vicious.
Dichotomy: “Eitt” is when two become one!
